A small house was founded here by MacWilliam Eighter, Walter son of Sir Thomas Bourke who died in it in 1440. It was founded as a cell of Cong on condition of maintaining a woman of his descendants who should make a vow of chastity. In the 16th century it was described as a cell of the order of St. Francis. Near-by was the ancient parish church and graveyard of Annagh, portion of the east gable remains.
